Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB) has launched a new Monitoring and Analytics Center (MAC) alongside the opening of its new headquarters in Warsaw. The facility expands the centralized supervision system for the group’s biogas plants that has been under development since 2020. The MAC is now fully operational and plays a central role in managing all PGB facilities across Poland. It delivers 24/7 monitoring and real-time analysis of production data.
The Monitoring and Analytics Center ensures constant supervision of biogas plants nationwide. MAC operators track performance parameters around the clock and provide on-demand support to on-site technical teams. This enables rapid response to operational changes and helps maintain stable energy production. The system also facilitates coordination with Poland’s grid operator and streamlines technical operations. It is the next evolution in PGB’s data-driven management model, centralizing analytics in one hub.
The group’s first MAC was launched in 2020 as part of its biogas plant network expansion. The newly opened center significantly expands those capabilities, reflecting the growing number of facilities and scale of PGB’s operations. The MAC includes a spacious, dedicated control room outfitted with operator workstations and cutting-edge data visualization tools for real-time oversight.
Six operator stations have been installed, with a team working in shifts to ensure round-the-clock supervision.
“The Monitoring and Analytics Center is our primary operational management tool for our facilities,” said Kamil Karwowski, Director of the Monitoring and Analytics Center at Polska Grupa Biogazowa. “Real-time data access lets us analyze performance in real time, identify changes faster, and back up our technical teams more effectively. This new center has significantly expanded our monitoring capabilities and improved the management of our distributed energy infrastructure.”
Beyond monitoring, the MAC handles operational documentation and data preparation for technical analysis and reporting. Specialists use PGB’s in-house SCADA system to monitor plant operations live, and respond swiftly to changes. This enables biogas plants to be supervised effectively from Warsaw, regardless of their location across the country.
The center also allows operators to remotely verify the status of key equipment and monitor the weighing of feedstock and other materials. The expanded MAC enables earlier detection of potential challenges and supports maintaining stable energy production.
Centralizing these functions boosts transparency in operational processes, streamlines technical action planning, and supports efficient facility management. This supports reliable energy production across the group while helping maintain stability in the local power grid.
Another key element of the center’s operations is the 24/7 visual monitoring of biogas plants, supported by a system of several dozen cameras installed at critical points across each facility. This allows operators to assess situations in real time and respond quickly when necessary.
As PGB continues to grow and expand the Monitoring and Analytics Center, the group is actively recruiting. Details on open positions are available in its job postings.
About PGB
Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB) is the largest producer of electricity and heat from biogas in Poland, holding a 15% market share. PGB employs 200 people and operates 21 assets across the country. The company converts waste into electricity and heat through cogeneration, while producing biologically valuable digestate that improves soil properties. PGB’s annual production capacity exceeds 0.5 TWh of biomethane equivalent — enough to power more than 90,000 households.
PGB aims to reach a production level of 2 TWh by 2030, while simultaneously expanding its operations to the purification of biogas as to inject biomethane into the gas grid. The implementation of these plans will represent a significant contribution to the development of Poland’s renewable energy sector and the decarbonization of heat and power sources.
Founded in 2007, PGB has been part of TotalEnergies since 2023 and is a joint venture equally owned by TotalEnergies and HitecVision since 2025, combining the experience of a global leader in energy transition with the capital and know-how of one of Europe’s leading renewable energy investors.
